Duration: 7 Days/ 6 Nights

Delhi » Ranthambore » Delhi.

A Week With Tigers National Park RanthamboreHighlights:

  • Wildlife safari in Ranthambore National Park.
  • Monuments of Old and New Delhi.
  • Stay in a Deluxe Tented Camp

Day 1: Delhi

You will arrive in Delhi here you will be met and taken to the Hotel where you will stay for 2-nights on a bed and breakfast basis. (The room is booked for the night of day 1 so that you can check in immediately).

Day 2: Delhi

After breakfast we will explore the bustling cities of Old and New Delhi.

Old Delhi pulses with energy and color everywhere you turn, giving you insight into the sights, sounds and aromas of the Indian subcontinent. In Old Delhi, you will see the famous Red Fort (built by the Emperor Shah Jahan - the builder of Taj Mahal), the Jama Masjid Mosque with its tapering minarets and wonderful marble domes, Chandni Chowk (Old Delhi's business centre), all with the hustle and bustle of everyday Indian life around you.

As a complete contrast, New Delhi stands in formal splendor, like a lone sentry guarding an outpost of a long-gone empire. It is a city of wide boulevards, which offers ever-changing perspectives of this landscaped city designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens. It is a city rich with formal parks where you can see the magnificent Parliament Building, the Rashtrapati Bhawan, once the awe-inspiring residence of the British Viceroys and now the Presidential Palace set in 330 acres of land, the Raj Ghat (cremation site of Mahatama Gandhi), India Gate (a majestic arch, 42 metres high, built as a memorial to the Indian Soldiers killed in World War I), Qutab Minar (the 72.5 metre high tower dating back to 13th century and one of the greatest bequests of Islamic Culture), Humanyun's Tomb (built in the 16th century and architecturally the fore-runner of the Taj Mahal, demonstrating Mughal architecture at its graceful best) and finally the Birla Mandir (a large Hindu Temple built in 1938).

Days 3 to 6: Ranthambore

Transfer by train to Sawai Madhopur, and on by road to Ranthambore, where you spend 4 nights.

Situated in Rajasthan, Ranthambore's rolling hills, dry dhok forest and tranquil lakes, decorated with the crumbling ruins of numerous temples and a hilltop fort, possess all the princely splendor of this famous Rajput State. The birdlife here is also excellent, particularly around the lakes where you will also have the opportunity to view the famous Marsh Mugger Crocodiles.

Sher Bagh is a deluxe-tented camp owned by Valmik Thapars family (of "Land of the Tiger" fame) and is in the perfect position in this beautiful reserve to enable you to view the Tiger. Sher Bagh is situated at the edge of Ranthambore National park along its Northern Periphery. The camp consists of 10 luxurious bedroom tents in a style originally designed for the Maharaja of Jodhpur at the turn of the century. Such tents were used on hunting expeditions and also catered for an overspill of guests at the palace during royal visits. Each tent has a verandah and bathroom with hot and cold running water, and electricity. Meals are served in the dining tent and much of the produce is organically grown.

Day 7. Homeward

This afternoon you will transfer to the Railway Station for the train to Delhi. Where a room has been booked for you to wash and change. Later this evening you will transfer to the airport in time for your flight back home.
