Malik Talao

Malik TalaoThe lakes of National Park Ranthambore play an important part in the ecosystem of this tiger reserve. The lakes act as sources of water through the year. They cool the surrounding regions and are a fascinating place to observe wildlife as different animals and birds come to the lakes edge through the day. The ecosystem within the lake with water birds and crocodiles is also a sight to see.

There are three large lakes in Ranthambore National Park of which Malik Talao is the smallest. Malik Talao is known for its population of water birds and Marsh Crocodiles. Many birds such as plovers, moor hens, herons and storks are seen alongside the bank of Malik Talao through the day. Kingfishers hunt for fish and hawks and kites circle overhead and sometimes come down to drink. The marsh crocodiles can be seen swimming menacingly in the water or sunning along the bank of the Malik Talao. Many animals such as deer, monkeys and tigers can be seen drinking from the edge of this lake in National Park Ranthambore.
